The mission of Christ the
Redeemer Church of San Marcos, Texas, is to be obedient to Christ in all
things by completing the mission He established in “Go and make
followers of all people in all the world, baptizing them in the name of
the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” We accomplish this mission
through prayer, worship, teaching, discipleship, and ministries to
families, knowing that God will complete a good work that he
began in all of us.
We believe that by
being ministers to Families, members, as individuals and collectively,
will come to know the Love of God and the Joy of Ministry to Others.
Matthew 28:19
Clarity of What We Believe: For the
purpose of UNITY in Christ, to enable us to complete our mission of
Ministry to Families and as a framework for unity, we set
forth these basic principles of belief:
1. We believe that all people have sinned and are in need of a
redeemer who is Christ, the Lord.
2. We believe in God, the Creator of all, who exists in three
identities: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
3. We believe in the Bible, as revealed to Christians throughout the
life of the Church, as being the source of instruction, doctrine,
correction, and completeness in righteousness.
4. We believe that God’s word is a love story of His desire to save
all creation by wooing us back to a personal relationship with Him made
manifest in His sending Christ Jesus to die on the cross for our sins.
5. We believe that the orderly study of scripture will unite us in
the knowledge of God and His will for each of us as an individual and as
a community of faith, therefore, Christ the Redeemer Church will be a
Lectionary church.
6. We believe that, in keeping with Biblical practices, upon a
public profession of faith and a repentant desire to have Jesus as Lord,
we will practice baptism by immersion.
7. We believe that as the centerpiece of our gatherings for worship,
Christ the Redeemer Church will celebrate communion by the breaking of
bread and partaking of the fruit of the vine each week in remembrance of
our Lord’s sacrifice for our sins.
8. We believe in the regular attendance and participation in the
life of the church as an act of worship and discipleship.
9. We believe that purposeful giving and tithing of time, talent,
and money is part of the spiritual life of the Christian and
acknowledges that God is the source of everything good in our lives.
10. We believe that the Church is composed of all who have obeyed the
Gospel call to redemption in Christ and is not composed of believers in
any one church building, one city, or one nation.
11. We believe in church structure as described in scripture: The
ELDERS will be Christians selected, ordained and authorized to be
elders, overseers and shepherds of the local community of faith.
As needed, the ELDERS will prayerfully select Christian members to be
Deacons of Ministry, vetted, called, ordained, and supported with budget
allocations for specific ministries to families under the
oversight and direction of the elders.
